Education Minister Dan Tehan says it is important "our young people have the skills" in fields of study "we know the jobs will be as we come out of the coronavirus pandemic" ahead of a major university fee overhaul announcement. Mr Tehan said the government was seeking to invest "more money" in fields of study where there would "likely be skills shortages". "We're going to be aligning the cost of a degree with the contribution the student and the government make," he said. Humanities courses will see the most significant price hike, with an annual increase of 113 per cent to $14,500 per year, while those studying maths and agriculture will see a significant decrease in fees by 62 per cent.
