Workers in Oakland, California, rallied in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement on July 20 by marching to a McDonald’s restaurant where staff had been on strike since May. The owner of the McDonald’s on Telegraph Avenue, Oakland, was sued by workers who went on strike after a coronavirus outbreak at the restaurant, according to reports. The workers claimed they were forced to make their own masks out of dog diapers and were not provided an adequate safety plan. The store’s owner said the outlet had now put in place an approved reopening plan, local media reported. Similar union-labor events took place in Washington, Pittsburgh, New York, and other cities across the country. Credit: Edan Alva via Storyful
